Academically, I feel as though I've had a great experience with the institution! Every professor I've had the pleasure of meeting has been warm, intelligent, and motivating towards their students. I enjoy the academic environment and am growing my knowledge with more time I spend there. Regarding the culture and diversity at the university, I find it extremely lacking. An overwhelming percentage of the demographics are caucasian women, and this creates an unwelcoming environment. As a caucasian woman, I strongly want to see a development in the diversity on campus and within majors. I believe the school would thrive if there was more inclusion of those who aren't women and of other races.

My experience at UNCW far exceeded my expectations. The school made getting involved easy with tons of events and ways to meet people. Within the first week I had met what are now some of my best friends. As with anywhere, it's really ab out finding YOUR people, but on the whole everyone was very kind. My professors were more understanding and helpful than my expectations of college while still offering some challenges. All of my teachers clearly cared about the subject matter they taught, making me more engaged in learning. Finally, how can you complain living only about 10 minutes from the beach! I found myself on the sand at least once a week, watching sunrises, sunsets, and midday ocean romps. The town itself is full of fun things to do if you know where to look; parks, shopping, coffee, and great food are all found in Wilmington. Overall, I could not be happier in my new home!

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is a key part of the city’s identity. Known for its strong programs in marine biology, business, and the arts, UNCW offers a vibrant campus life with a focus on community engagement and research. The campus itself is attractive, with a mix of modern and traditional architecture, and it's situated close to the beach, which is a nice perk for students.

Some people feel that increasing resources and facilities to support a growing student body could be beneficial. Additionally, expanding partnerships with local businesses and organizations might offer more opportunities for internships and community involvement. Overall, UNCW contributes positively to Wilmington's educational and cultural landscape.
